COBA Flooring’s custom-made Plan.a aluminium entrance matting has proved the perfect value engineered solution for Kier Construction, the main contractor working on the Academy House project in Cambridge.
Academy House is a newly constructed state-of-the-art office development on Hills Road, Cambridge. The speculatively built grade A office block with its own gym and secure parking was completed late summer 2015 and forms part of The Unex Group’s property portfolio. Creating a stylish entrance area to befit its modern architecture while still staying within budget, were key criteria.
As one of Kier’s ‘preferred suppliers for entrance matting and flooring solutions’, the specialist entrance matting division at COBA Flooring was pleased to make recommendations for what was initially an ‘open specification’ project. Kier was keen to source a value engineered solution. COBA Flooring provided Kier with all the product samples and support needed during the specification phase, with a versatile option in Plan.a that met Kier’s value engineered targets. That support and close working liaison continued right up to the time of installation, to ensure the product was delivered on time, within budget and to specification. The installation, spanning some 25.7 sq metres of floor space, was carried out by Master Matting.
Plan.a competitively priced, premium quality aluminium entrance matting manufactured by COBA Flooring, is custom-made to order and is ideal for heavy-duty commercial environments. There is a choice of surface materials used for the inserts, namely carpet (Alba premium quality nylon or needlepunch), PVC scraper strips or brushes. Plan.a provides the option of two heights of profile (either Standard or Low) depending on whether the installation is in a recessed matwell or laid to the floor surface. There is also the choice of open or closed surface configurations depending on preference. For flooring contractors, Plan.a’s ‘flexibility’ also makes handling and installation an easier task, helping projects to run smoothly.
