COBA Flooring’s popular PathMaster entrance matting was installed at Barnsley College’s award-winning Old Mill Lane site in South Yorkshire. Specified by Jefferson Sheard Architects, the stylish yet effective dirt-barrier matting was installed in the ‘state-of-the-art ‘extension which now forms the main entrance area for the College.
The contemporary building design and its distinctive red and white colour scheme warranted matting that would complement these features to create an impressive entrance area. It was not only PathMaster Duo’s attractive design that caught the specifier’s attention, but also the fact that it could be ordered by special request in a variety of attractive colours other than the run-of-the-mil blacks, charcoals and greys. Barnsley College immediately opted for PathMaster Duo in striking Red to depict their vibrant college colours and the entrance matting was subsequently fitted by Phoenix Flooring of Leeds.
While colour was important, the matting of course had to be functional for floor protection and safety underfoot. Good dirt-scraping and drying properties were essential, and the matting also had to be fitted in a recessed matwell – the College had traditionally used aluminium frame systems in the past.
PathMaster, with its many cost-saving, fitting and maintenance benefits, is fast becoming a familiar sight in many entrance areas subjected to high volumes of footfall and comes with a five year guarantee against significant wear and tear or product failure.
The smart striped Duo design created through strips of alternating soft and coarse carpet fibres (polypropylene needle rib with polyamide brushes) delivers an effective dual wiping/scraping action for maximum dirt and moisture control. PathMaster Duo’s solid surface captures dirt and moisture within the channels between the strips for ease of cleaning. It also has a non-slip latex backing. PathMaster can either be installed in recessed wells or laid to the floor surface as required with an optional edging to reduce trip hazards.
PathMaster Duo is available in 2m widths of up to 20m lengths or by per linear metre. Rolls or lengths of matting are simply ‘butted’ together to cover larger floor surface areas. Product height: 13mm. Colours: Grey and Anthracite stocked as standard with other colours available by special order.
